loud outside, soft inside
nobody asked, but here we are
my whispers, it is me, your tuesday highlight, i have been thinking about this week’s lineup since i put it together and i genuinely cannot pick a favourite. we have got pop culture served hot, a pod that feels like sitting with a creative you admire, some real talk about living online, and then ebuka and banky w going places i was not fully prepared for. it is a full plate this week and i am not sorry.
let us get into it.
first up, “rewind the podcast”. raven and blake came into this episode with absolute chaos energy and i loved every second of it. they covered spencer pratt running for mayor of los angeles which, what on earth, the not so doctor dr cheyenne bryant situation, harry styles on tour with very divided opinions, and then drake dropping three albums at once because apparently he woke up and chose violence. they also reviewed off campus, is god is, and obsession and i need to know if you have been watching any of these because the conversation around them is giving. if you love pop culture served fast, funny, and completely unfiltered, this is your pod.
next, “is this seat taken: the pod”. okay this one is special to me this week. the host wraps up the year with a final episode and the energy is so warm and full and genuinely celebratory. ten episodes of sitting down with nigerian creatives she finds interesting, asking the questions that feel more like a date than an interview, and building something that actually feels different. if you have never listened before, this is a good place to start because this episode carries the whole year in it. and if you have been rocking with it since the beginning, you already know. somebody shout power indeed
now, “pretty basic with alisha marie and remi cruz”. this episode started light and then quietly became something i was not ready for. they went from talking about favourite seasons and serotonin levels to breaking down the very real and very scary side of living life online. parasocial relationships, influencer safety, the horror stories that come from posting your location in real time, and the impossible line between sharing your life and protecting your peace. it is the kind of conversation that makes you rethink your own relationship with the internet and what you share and who is actually watching. plus alisha’s gray hair story had me in a chokehold and i will say nothing more. go listen.
and we are closing out with “mentality with ebuka”. ebuka obi-uchendu and banky w pulled up with farooq oreagba and tobi bakre and had the kind of conversation that needs to be playing in every nigerian sitting room. they talked about career uncertainty, ambition, the pressure to figure life out early, what happens when the path is not straight, and the emotional weight that comes with tying your identity to what you do for money. in an economy like ours where nothing is guaranteed and hustle culture gets glorified while the real cost stays hidden, this episode sits with you long after it ends. it is honest, it is grounded, and it is the kind of conversation that reminds you that your worth is not your job title or your income or how far you have come by a certain age. this one is necessary.
and that is a wrap on this week. pop culture chaos, creative warmth, internet reality checks, and a conversation about manhood that actually goes somewhere. we love a full plate around here.
rest when you can, drink your water, and i will see you next week. same whispers, same place. peace out ✌🏽
