yooo it's Pearl here and I brought some presents!! Na I'm just kidding. Here's the newsletter.
This week's podcast was inspired by... make a guess
WIRED
Do you know what's more creepy than a white middle-aged man in khaki shorts and a pink polo shirt catcalling you? No, you don't! It's a white middle-aged man in khaki shorts and a pink polo shirt stalking you through the use of AI technology (yeah, I said that, and I stand by it). This episode on Wired delves into the new controversial surveillance system installed at the Olympic Games in Paris that took place recently. (Go check it out so you know what I'm talking about.)
THE DIGITAL HUMAN
Omo, this one weak me, I won't lie. This episode talks about internet curses (never knew that was a thing), like Smile Dog and how it haunts your dreams and your day-to-day life with its terrible human smile, promising to leave you only if you 'spread the word'... Weird. Anyways, it was a fun interview, and I got to see the darker, darker side of the internet. You should definitely check it out.
P.S.: Don't search for the picture of Smile Dog because I know you people.
TECH BYTES
Bobby talks with Carol Valdez about UX writing (I decided to be selfish like last time). They basically discussed the evolving nature of AI in content creation and useful tips that aspiring UX writers would find valuable when it comes to writing and working with AI. So if you're into UX writing like me (yes, I'm selling myself), then this is the right episode for you. Even UX/UI designers would appreciate this episode that way, you don't always have to work alongside a snarky UX writer who's never on time (that's excluding me, of course).
Special mentions!! The first episode of Night Food Stories audio drama is out!
World Usability Day Conference (WUDC)
World Usability Day is a global movement that aims to bridge the gap between the Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and User Experience (UX) community and the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. It is a worldwide celebration and educational platform dedicated to promoting the importance of usability and accessibility in our daily lives. We are celebrating the day in Africa with a series of activities ranging from a design challenge to a workshop and conference.
