If you think life is hard, think again there are many things harder than life, if you don't believe me, think harder maybe something will come up.
Did I say I was dying? yes (but very very slowly), I just turned 24 (yesterday, actually), and I was talking to my junior brother just before my birthday. We were reminiscing on times when I would be writing code, and my mom would want to turn off the generator because it was already past time. We would beg her not to and tell her that I was so close to hitting a big break, and what I was working on would change a lot. She would drag for a bit but then finally listen and keep the generator on for 30 minutes more, while in fact, I was not writing code.
I was fighting bugs because JavaScript (JS) was killing me. The question is, did I defeat JS?
This may be a hard one to take in (that's what she said), but walk with me. Just like my battery life, my life, and maybe yours, we all experience ups and downs, low battery or high battery.
And at times like this, what helps for A may not help for B. For me, I just work, it's my only default coping mechanism, just working (and riding my bike).
I don't know about you, but since we both share this weird unique interest in listening to people talk into a mic (podcasts), I believe I might have something that helps a bit.
Back then (when I was begging my mom not to turn off the generator), I never really listened to as many podcasts as I do now. I only listened to Code Newbies and Coding Blocks, but looking back, that's when podcast listening started more properly because I was a code junkie, and I had to fight JS every day. I did not defeat JS, by the way; psych! I switched it.
These days, since I don't write code as a job, I write Dart now using Flutter, and it's more of a hobby for me. I am more focused on building Whatspodcasting into a big company (think NPR or Wondery). With time, I have found that my interest has changed.
And I will say this in no specific order: This is the best podcast of my early twenties. Kindly listen, learn, and overall implement the heck out of it!
How to Take Over the World by (Ben Wilson), learning about the great lives of men and women of old, people who changed the world in their time.
Founders by (David Senra), to learn about the great founders and their biographies on how they have changed the business game and how the world impacted their lives.
My First Million by (Sam Parr and Shaan Puri) for crazy business ideas from fun, rich, and interesting old men who share ideas that you can actually implement and start your own business empire.
Acquired: Two guys talking about big huge companies, demystifying their process of marketing, idea evolution, and even the growth of the founders.
Special mentions: Lex Fridman's pod, Waveform podcast and my own personal podcast Notjustdesign
That comes to the end of this week's newsletter. It's very irregular, but as you go about your day, remember: If you are going to try, go all the way...
(that's what she said).
Here is a podcast playlist link so you don't have to go back and forth just to listen to the podcast of the week.❤️💕
